A marriage of hard work and talent

In 1925, Auguste Point died, and his son Fernand who had been working at the Hôtel Royal in Evian – returned to take over the running of La Pyramide.
Little by little, everything had to be changed in this fine old establishment dating from the second half of the nineteenth century.
In any event, a miracle of hard work and talent was soon brought about. Point preferred direct action to advertising in the newspapers, believing that the best possible advertisement was to be found within the restaurant itself.
In 1930, Fernand Point married the beautiful Marie Louise,
and La Pyramide immediately became every bit as famous as its mighty Egyptian namesakes. They bought a piece of land adjoining the restaurant, designed a splendid terrace, then added an extra storey
to the building. Point’s restaurant assured itself a place in history, and the great gastronome Curnonsky himself exclaimed,
‘It is one of the finest establishments;
it is the zenith of the culinary art.’
