Vienne is a charming city with a rich historical heritage.
Located on the Route du Midi, it has travelled through the centuries, retaining many of its legacies, which you can discover on delightful walks and cultural visits.
It was first a Gallic population, the Allobroges, who chose to settle near the Rhône river. The area then became part of the Roman Empire.
Today you can admire the many remains of the Gallo-Roman era, some of the most significant and best preserved in France: the Roman theatre, the Museum of Fine Arts and Archaeology, the temples of Augustus and Livia, the Gallo-Roman sites of Saint-Romain-en-Gal and the pyramid, the stone monument just 20 metres from the Relais & Châteaux Patrick Henriroux hotel, dating from the 2nd century, which was probably used as a landmark for chariot races in the Gallo-Roman era.
In the Middle Ages, the town became an important religious centre, and today we can still admire some of its architectural treasures, including the Saint-Maurice cathedral, where Pope Calixtus II was consecrated and the church of Saint-André-le-Haut, to name but a few.
A few kilometres from Vienne, in the surrounding area, the Château de Septème, a 12th-century fortified castle, the medieval chapel of Illins, water meadows and the ancient church of Saint-Ferréol will also delight lovers of history and cultural discoveries.
For a fortnight at the end of June and beginning of July, the streets of Vienne come to life and the city is abuzz with concerts and artists. Jazz à Vienne is an unmissable event!
As Europe's third-largest festival, it celebrates jazz music and welcomes a host of renowned artists every year.
They perform all over the city, including in the superb Roman theatre, for unforgettable concerts and evenings out.
The vineyards of Condrieu and Côte-Rôtie and those of Vitis Vienna and the Rhône Valley: discover these landscapes, estates and houses that produce wines renowned the world over.
Visits and tastings, moments of exchange and sharing, to experience during your stay at La Pyramide, or to enhance your seminars in Isère.
Just a few kilometres from La Pyramide, the city of Lyon is also well worth a visit: stroll through the city's many quarters, listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites, and admire its many museums and historic buildings.
You'll discover the Lyon peninsula, the Fourvière hill, the Parc de la Tête d'Or, the Vieux-Lyon, the Croix-Rousse and the Musée des Confluences.
Just a few minutes from La Pyramide, explore the via Rhôna, a cycling route linking the Swiss Alps to the Mediterranean Sea via the Rhône valley.
Breathtaking landscapes and towns steeped in thousands of years of history await you.
Stop off at La Pyramide, on your two-wheeled escapade in the Rhône Valley (the establishment provides parking for bikes).
Jump on your bikes or pull on your hiking boots!
Just a stone's throw from La Pyramide, footpaths and cycling or walking trails allow you to immerse yourself in nature and discover the countryside around Vienne, complete with its vineyards, orchards, historic towns and picturesque villages.
